The Rhode Island Homeschool Spelling Bee, sponsored
by RICHES, will be at Faith Christian Center, 95 Sagamore Road,
Seekonk, MA 02771, on Thursday, January 29th at 7:00 PM.
The winner will be invited to the Statewide Spelling
Bee in March, sponsored by the Valley Breeze, where he or she will
compete against public and private schoolers for the chance to
represent Rhode Island in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in
Washington, DC, in May 2009. Students must be in 4th through 8th
grade, must not have reached their 16th birthday by May 31st, 2009,
and must have submitted their homeschool letter of intent to their
school department.
Please register by mailing your child’s name, age,
grade, phone number, email address and $5. Checks are to be made
payable to Lee-Ann Childs (see newsletter or email Lee-Ann
childsfamily8@verizon.net
for address).
A 2009 Spell It! Word List will be mailed to your
child upon registration. (Not all the words used in the bee are
guaranteed to come from this word list)

CALLING ALL SENIORS!
Now is the time to reserve your place in the RICHES
Commencement Ceremony which is being planned for May 2009.
If you wish to participate, please send payment
($100) along with your graduate's height and name (as you wish it to
appear on the diploma and programs), with your email address by
February 28, 2009, to Debbie Esolen (see newsletter or email Debbie at
kent@richeshomeschool.org for address).
This amount will cover the following: Gown, cap, and
2009 tassel; custom-made diploma on fine paper in a padded cover;
professionally-printed invitations; individual and group cap & gown
photographs and programs. Any unused money will go to the
refreshments committee.
One note: to participate, the graduates must attend
one dress rehearsal, to be held a week or two before the graduation.
At this time, we will distribute "regalia" and take photos for the
programs, so dress appropriately.

RICHES is uniting two fantastic events for one major blow out!
We know families are busy and often have to choose
between which events they can attend, so this year our Annual PawSox
Memorial Day BBQ and Fireworks will be combined with the RICHES
Promotion Celebration and will take place together on Sunday, May 24,
2009. Box Seats for the PawSox at McCoy Stadium are $10 per ticket
(adult and child 3+ years), General admission is $6 for Adults, $4
for senior citizens and children 12 and under.Purchase your tickets
right away as this game sells out quickly!
Or, you don’t have to go to the baseball game at all,
if you just want to join us for the BBQ and Promotion Celebration.
Email Lee-Ann Childs as soon as possible with the
names and grades, and the number of people you will be bringing to the
BBQ.
